Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order introduced on 1 October 2006, fire certificates will no longer be issued to all but certain high risk establishments. This has now been replaced with the requirement for fire safety risk assessment.
Today, employers have become solely responsible for fire safety within their workplaces.
Thus the requirement for comprehensive and unique fire risk assessments remains. Each individual company is responsible for their own fire safety.
We advise our customers to have:
- adequate means of detecting fire
- adequate means to raise the alarm
- adequate and suitable provision for first aid fire fighting equipment, positioned in the relevant place/s
All fire fighting equipment should be accessible and sited in relevant position.
Mace advises its customers on all the important and related areas applicable under this legislation, including:

- escape routes and exits should be adequately illuminated at all and adequate route illumination provided in the event of a failure of normal lighting.
