John of Rolleston School

The 330 primary school children plus their teachers at John of Rolleston School, which celebrates its centenary, are now protected by a radio fire detection and alarm system.

The community school, which takes pupils aged 5 to 11, worked with Mace Fire to chose a wireless fire detection and alarm system; plus an intelligent wired system to protect the school premises, pupils and staff in the unlikely event of a fire.

And the system is fully operational 24/7 so the out of hours activities at the school are equally protected from the threat of fire.

Wireless detection systems are specified by Mace Fire where access issues restrict easy installation and there is potential disturbance to existing decoration.

Wifi systems can tackle the installation problems that have previously restricted installation of fire protection.

“The system installed at John of Rolleston was fitted with the minimum of disturbance”, confirmed Mace Fire MD, Simon Chapman.

“Normally a traditional fire alarm system of this size and complexity takes up to 7 days to install. With this radio fire alarm, the work was completed in less than two days; with only a single mains supply to the control panel required”.

The continuous development of radio technology and battery chemistry has made these systems as reliable and sophisticated as the hard-wired versions they have replaced.
